This program gives the opportunity to learn a second language as a family. The first years of children's lives are the time when they first fall in love with words and music. We offer an early childhood program that fosters both language acquisition and musical development for children from birth to five years old. Pasitos was created for families to learn fun ways to incorporate Spanish at home in their daily routines. It is like adopting a guess to your house and inviting him to be part of your daily family life.
Parents and caregivers are invited to participate in class to explore new ways of learning Spanish. Even parents who are not familiar with Spanish can be active participants. There are posters with lyrics, and the collections of songs are simple and repetitive which makes it easy for everybody to follow.
We use singing, group activities, finger plays, dancing, musical instruments, props and puppets to create a rich and meaningful learning experience. Each class explores different songs to teach Spanish themes such as: greetings, colors, emotions, numbers, animals (farm and jungle), opposites, parts of the body, and shapes just to mention a few.
We hold our classes in a nurturing environment, in which we respect the uniqueness of every child, their learning style and personality. Some children are very active participants while others just like to observe. Whether they actively participate or observe, they are learning. That is the wonder of teaching a language though music!
In each semester, it can be six to ten weeks long, we explore one of our three collections of songs. Families can enroll for up to three semesters without repeating the songs. Each collection contains a variety of songs from different artists and genres such as: Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, Morenada (Bolivian rhythm), Festejo (Peruvian rhythm), Flamenco (Spain) and others.
Why music works so well with children?
Music is a powerful tool to teach a second language. Children learn best when they enjoy the process of learning, and music awakens children’s enthusiasm to use language. It enables children to develop language skills and use their imagination and creativity as they acquire a second language.
Registration includes a CD with 15 Spanish songs
and an illustrated e-songbook for families to learn more,
explore, and enjoy the songs at home.
Jugando (Playing) Children 3 to 6 years old
Key Highlights of the program:
* Children ages 3 to 6 years old
* Weekly 1 hour class
* Learn Spanish through storytelling, songs, games, hand-on activities, puppets, and dramatic play
* All material is provided in each class
Jugando is a drop off full Spanish immersion class. This program offers children the opportunity to continue learning Spanish as they grow. In this program children learn Spanish through picture books, storytelling, songs, games, hands-on activities, puppets and dramatic play. In addition we use musical instruments, props, and visual aids to create a rich learning environment. We promote the language learning through music, play and movement as well.
This program consists of ongoing learning and practice that supports previously introduced vocabulary and concepts. Children learn in a natural way, by playing which enables them to use Spanish in a natural and fun way. First, children learn some words and how to use these words in context. Then more vocabulary is introduced; as the previous vocabulary is still being reviewed. Once students become familiar with the new vocabulary, they start using short sentences in class.
Children receive regular reinforcement of previously presented vocabulary, songs, and games, as they are concurrently taught a new topic each class. This way the class builds upon familiar activities so children know the routine of the class.
We have an interactive approach in class, as we encourage children to use all their senses when learning Spanish. In this program we include singing, acting, drawing, talking, dancing, and expressing using their faces, voices, and movement to follow the songs and games in class. Active participation is encouraged in class, according to each student’s level, so children can apply what they learn in class and at home
Explorando (Exploring) Children

This class includes a sensory center and a play center where students are going to learn Spanish through exploring and playing using their senses in a natural way. Our purpose is to use different sources to promote interaction between students and teacher, and an interactive learning experience.
